Privacy PolicyGoverning the HitchLine Website, Mobile Application, and all related Services
HitchLine LLC, registered in the State of Delaware, United States.
Effective Date: June 3, 2026.

1. Introduction

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through compliance with this Privacy Policy (this “Policy”). This Policy describes the types of information we may collect from you, or that you may provide, in the HitchLine website (the “Website”) and the “HitchLine” mobile application (the “Mobile Application” or “Application”) and all related products, features, and services—including HitchDrop, the E-Wallet, Tales, ChatRoom, Primary Chat, Business Chat, Requests Chat, Profile Photo Verification, map-based discovery and find-people features, and job, business, and rental listings (collectively, the “Services”). It describes our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information (“Personal Information”), and the choices available to you.

This Policy is a legally binding agreement between you (“User,” “you,” or “your”) and HitchLine LLC, a company registered in Delaware, United States (“HitchLine,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), and forms part of, and should be read together with, our Terms and Conditions. If you are entering into this Policy on behalf of an entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity. By accessing or using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Policy. If you do not agree, you must not access or use the Services. This Policy does not apply to the practices of companies we do not own or control, or to individuals we do not employ or manage.

2. Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Services, our servers automatically record information your device sends. This may include your device’s IP address and approximate location, device name and version, operating system type and version, language preferences, the information you search for in the Application, access times and dates, and other usage statistics. Information collected automatically is used to identify potential cases of abuse, secure the Services, and establish statistical information about usage, and is not aggregated in a way that would identify any particular User.

3. Personal Information You Provide

You can browse some areas of the Services without revealing information that identifies you. To use most features, you may be asked to provide Personal Information. When required, this may include:

  • Account details (such as user name, unique user ID, and password);

  • Contact information (such as email address and phone number);

  • Basic personal information (such as name and country of residence);

  • Proof of identity (such as a photocopy of a government ID, where required for high-risk transactions or verification);

  • Payment information (such as card or bank details, processed by our payment providers);

  • Geolocation data of your device (such as latitude and longitude);

  • Access to certain device features (such as contacts, calendar, camera, gallery, and microphone), with your permission;

  • Information about other individuals (such as contacts, family members, or friends) that you choose to share;

  • Profile photo and liveness-test data used for Profile Photo Verification;

  • Content you create or submit (such as Tales, listings, tasks, reviews, messages, images, videos, and feedback).

You can choose not to provide Personal Information, but you may then be unable to use some features. If you are uncertain about what information is mandatory, please contact us.

4. How We Use and Process Information

Depending on the situation, we may act as a data controller (where we determine the purposes and means of processing) or a data processor (where we process Personal Information on your instructions, for example content you submit through the Services). We may collect and use Personal Information for the following purposes:

  • Create, manage, and secure user accounts and verify identity;

  • Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Services and their features;

  • Facilitate HitchDrop tasks, listings, reviews, and connections between users;

  • Process payments, wallet transactions, withdrawals, refunds, and subscriptions;

  • Power map, location, and find-people features and match users in the same area;

  • Enable chat, calls, translation, friend suggestions, and social features;

  • Send service updates, notices, and (with consent where required) marketing;

  • Respond to inquiries and provide support;

  • Enforce our Terms and Conditions, policies, and Community Guidelines;

  • Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, and illegal activity;

  • Protect the safety, rights, and property of users, HitchLine, and the public; and

  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

Our legal bases for processing (where applicable) include your consent; performance of a contract with you; compliance with a legal obligation; a task carried out in the public interest; and our or a third party’s legitimate interests. We rely primarily on your consent, and under some laws may process information until you object by opting out. We will clarify the applicable legal basis on request.

5. Feature-Specific Data Practices

5.1 Location

With your permission, we may collect your approximate and precise location using GPS, wireless networks, cell towers, Wi-Fi access points, and device sensors such as gyroscopes, accelerometers, and compasses. To help protect your privacy, your location is displayed to other users approximately one to two kilometres away from your actual location. Allowing location access is required to access the complete HitchLine experience and to support the safety and matching features. You can disable location through your device settings, which may limit functionality.

5.2 Camera, Audio, Files, Photos, and Videos

Many features require access to your device’s camera, microphone, photos, and files—for example, to share or upload photos and videos or to make calls. We access these only with your permission and only to provide the relevant feature.

5.3 Contacts and Phone Book

With your permission, we collect your phone-book contacts to enable a friends list and friend suggestions and to help you connect with friends, family, and contacts on HitchLine. Contact information is uploaded to our servers only after your consent and used only to sync with the Application for friend suggestions. We do not collect or share this contact information for any other purpose or with any third-party service.

5.4 Profile Photo Verification

If you use Profile Photo Verification, we process your profile photo and a liveness test to confirm a facial-feature match within our system. As described in the Terms, this confirms a match only and does not guarantee identity or authenticity. We use this data to award the verification badge and to help reduce impersonation.

5.5 Reviews

We collect and display reviews of services and activities (such as HitchDrop tasks) on user profile pages to provide transparent feedback and build a trusted community. Reviews you post may be visible to other users.

5.6 HitchDrop

HitchDrop is a location-based service that connects users to provide and receive tasks. Your privacy settings control what is shared; the information shared is generally limited to what the task provider, task receiver, and necessary third-party services (such as Stripe for payments and a mapping provider for location) require to deliver a safe and complete experience.

5.7 Job, Business, and Rental Listings

When you post or respond to a listing, we process the information you include in the listing and the communications and transactions that follow. As described in the Terms, you are responsible for the accuracy and legality of your listings, and you should verify other parties independently before engaging.

5.8 Chat, Calls, Report, and Block

We provide Primary Chat, Business Chat, Requests Chat, and ChatRoom, with text, media sharing, audio and video calls, and in-chat translation. Communications are subject to our Terms and Community Guidelines. You can report or block other users. Clear Chat lets you delete a conversation (leaving a marker indicating who deleted it); for Business Chat, messages on non-accepted tasks may be deleted after 24 hours, and deleting the primary chat with a user may also delete the related business chat. ChatRoom chats disappear when you leave the ChatRoom; in the ChatRoom we share only your unique HitchLine ID, profile picture, and country, unless you accept or initiate further contact.

5.9 Tales

Tales let you post images and videos that, as described in the Terms, are visible for 24 hours before expiring from view. You are responsible for the legality and appropriateness of your Tales. By posting, you grant the license described in the Terms, and your Tales may be visible to other users according to your Public or Private setting.

5.10 E-Wallet and Payments

To use the E-Wallet you must provide accurate account information and are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential. The E-Wallet lets you store, send, and receive funds using various payment methods, including third-party services. Payment information is processed by our payment providers (such as Stripe), and we share payment data with them only as needed to process payments, withdrawals, refunds, subscriptions, and related complaints. We are not responsible for the actions or policies of third-party payment services. The E-Wallet may not be used for any illegal or fraudulent activity, including money laundering or terrorist financing, and we may freeze or close an account on suspicion of such activity.

5.11 Device Information

We may collect information about the devices you use, including hardware model, operating system version, device memory, advertising and application identifiers, apps installed, device usage data, browser and keyboard type, language, battery level, time zone, sensor data, and information about your network connections such as mobile number, carrier, IP address, and signal strength.

6. Biometric Information

Profile Photo Verification uses a liveness test and facial-feature matching, which may involve biometric data (such as a facial scan or geometry) under laws including the EU/UK GDPR, the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), and the biometric-privacy laws of Texas, Washington, and other jurisdictions. We treat this data with heightened care:

  • We collect and process facial/liveness data only with your consent and only to confirm a facial-feature match within our system and award the verification badge.

  • We do not sell, lease, trade, or profit from your biometric data, and we do not share it with third parties except service providers that help operate the verification feature, or where required by law.

  • We retain biometric data only as long as needed for the verification purpose or your account, and will delete it when that purpose is satisfied, when you withdraw consent or delete your account, or within the period required by applicable law, whichever comes first.

  • You may decline biometric verification; you can still use the Services, but you may not receive the verification badge.

Where your jurisdiction requires separate, explicit biometric consent, we will obtain it before processing, and your consent to this Policy alone is not relied upon as the sole basis where the law requires more.

7. Sensitive Personal Information

Some information we handle may be “sensitive” under applicable law—for example, precise geolocation, government identification numbers or documents, biometric data, and account credentials. We collect sensitive information only where necessary to provide a feature, verify identity, process payments, or comply with law, and we process it for those limited purposes. Where the law requires consent or an opt-in for sensitive information, we will obtain it, and you may direct us to limit the use of your sensitive information to what is necessary to deliver the Services, except where a broader use is permitted or required by law. We do not use sensitive information for purposes incompatible with those described in this Policy.

8. Public and User-Shared Content; Your Responsibility

A core part of HitchLine is sharing and connecting. You should understand and accept the following before sharing anything through the Services.

Content you share may be public and used by others. Photos, videos, text, profile details, listings, Tales, reviews, messages, and other content, and personal or other information you choose to share through chats, Tales, listings, your profile, or anywhere on the Services, may be visible to, accessed by, saved by, re-shared by, or otherwise used by other users and, depending on your settings and the feature, by the public. Once shared, such content and information may be copied, screenshotted, downloaded, forwarded, or distributed beyond your control and beyond HitchLine’s control, and we cannot guarantee its confidentiality, deletion, or removal once it has been shared or re-shared by others.

You share willingly and at your own discretion. All content and information you provide or share is shared by you voluntarily and at your own discretion and risk. You decide what to share, with whom, and through which feature, and you are responsible for the consequences of sharing it. You should not share sensitive personal information—such as financial details, identification numbers, your precise home address, or other private data—with people you do not trust, and you should be mindful that information about other people you share (such as contacts or images of others) must respect their privacy and consent.

Be vigilant and stay safe. HitchLine is intended for safe, lawful, and respectful use for the benefit of users—individually, as groups, or as organizations. It is your responsibility to remain vigilant, exercise good judgment, verify who you are dealing with, and protect your own safety, privacy, and property when sharing content, communicating, or engaging with others, whether online or in person. We provide tools such as privacy settings, location offset, reporting, and blocking to help, but we cannot guarantee the conduct of other users or the safety of any interaction.

HitchLine’s role. To the fullest extent permitted by law, HitchLine and its partners are not responsible or liable for how content or information you share is viewed, used, distributed, or misused by other users or third parties, or for any harm, loss, or consequence arising from your decision to share it. This Section works together with the User Safety, content-sharing, and real-life-impact provisions of our Terms.

9. Payment Processing

For paid Services, you may need to provide payment account information used solely to process payments. We use third-party Payment Processors that adhere to PCI security standards managed by the PCI Security Standards Council. Sensitive data is exchanged over an SSL-secured, encrypted channel. We share payment data with Payment Processors only as necessary to process payments, refunds, subscriptions, and related complaints. Payment Processors may collect Personal Information directly from you, and their use of it is governed by their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. Where necessary for recurring payments and with your consent, financial information may be stored in encrypted form on the Payment Processors’ secure servers.

10. How We Share and Disclose Information

We may share information in the following ways:

  • With other users, as required by the feature you use (for example, profile details, reviews, listings, Tales, and information needed to complete a HitchDrop task or chat);

  • With Service Providers and contracted companies that help operate the Services (such as payment, mapping, hosting, analytics, communication, and verification providers), who are authorized to use the information only to perform services for us and not for their own purposes;

  • With third-party payment services to facilitate wallet and payment transactions;

  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case information may be transferred as a business asset; and

  • Where required or permitted by law—such as to comply with a subpoena or legal process—or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, protect the safety of users or others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government or law-enforcement request, consistent with the law-enforcement cooperation described in our Terms.

Law-enforcement and special requests. Data or information requested by law-enforcement, regulatory, judicial, or other governmental authorities through a lawful or special request may be considered and, where we determine it appropriate or are legally required to do so, may be disclosed, preserved, or otherwise provided. We assess such requests at our discretion and in accordance with applicable law, and may do so with or without notice to you where permitted. Nothing in this Policy prevents HitchLine from meeting its legal obligations or from cooperating with authorities to protect the safety, rights, or property of any person, HitchLine, or the public.

We do not sell your Personal Information for money. Aggregated or de-identified information that does not identify you may be used and shared without restriction.

Service providers versus independent third parties. We work with two kinds of third parties, and they handle your information differently. (1) Service providers (processors) act on our behalf and only on our instructions — such as hosting, payment, mapping, analytics, communication, push-notification, and verification providers. They receive only the information needed to perform their function, are bound by contracts (including data-processing agreements where required by law) that prohibit using your information for their own purposes or marketing, and must protect it. (2) Independent third parties act for their own purposes under their own privacy policies — such as payment processors that collect data directly from you, mapping providers, social-media features, advertising partners, and linked resources. We are not responsible for how independent third parties use your information, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies. We do not authorize any third party to use your information beyond the purpose for which it is shared.

A note on “sale” and “sharing”. We do not sell your Personal Information for monetary consideration. However, under some laws (such as the CCPA/CPRA and certain other U.S. state laws), the terms “sale” and “sharing” are defined broadly and can include disclosing identifiers or usage data to advertising or analytics partners for cross-context behavioral advertising, even without payment. If and to the extent we engage in any activity that qualifies as a “sale” or “share” under those laws — for example, by enabling advertising or analytics technologies that receive device or advertising identifiers — we will provide the disclosures and the opt-out described in Section 21, and will honor recognized opt-out preference signals where required.

11. Retention and Deletion of Information

We retain Personal Information for as long as your account remains active and as needed to provide the Services, enforce our agreements, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. Once the retention period expires, Personal Information is deleted, after which access, erasure, rectification, and portability rights cannot be exercised over deleted data. We may continue to use aggregated or de-identified data that does not identify you.

We set retention periods based on the type of information and the reason we hold it. As general guidance, and subject to legal requirements:

  • Account and profile information is retained while your account is active and deleted following account deletion, subject to the limited exceptions below.

  • Chat and message content follows the feature’s behavior — for example, ChatRoom chats disappear on leaving, Tales expire after 24 hours, and non-accepted Business Chat messages may be removed after 24 hours — with residual or back-up copies kept only for a limited period.

  • Biometric (face/liveness) data is retained only for the verification purpose and deleted when that purpose ends, on consent withdrawal, or on account deletion, whichever is first.

  • Payment and transaction records are retained as long as required by tax, accounting, anti-money-laundering, and other financial laws.

  • Identity-verification documents are retained only as long as needed for the verification or as required by law.

  • Logs and security data are retained as needed to secure the Services and investigate abuse.

Account and data deletion. You can delete certain Personal Information, or permanently delete your account, through the settings page in the Application. The delete-account option removes your account information, data, chats, and media within twenty-four (24) hours after you confirm deletion, except for information we are required or permitted to retain to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or enforce our agreements.

12. International Transfers of Information

Depending on your location, your Personal Information may be transferred to and stored in a country other than your own, including the United States. Where required by law, we will ensure such transfers rely on an appropriate legal basis, including your explicit consent or appropriate safeguards. You may request details of the legal basis and safeguards we use. We are committed to protecting your information and complying with applicable data-protection laws when processing across jurisdictions.

13. Region-Specific Privacy Rights

13.1 EU/EEA and UK (GDPR)

If you are in the European Union, European Economic Area, or United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR (and UK GDPR), including the rights to: withdraw consent; access your Personal Information and obtain a copy; rectify inaccurate or incomplete information; object to processing carried out on a basis other than consent (and to object to direct marketing at any time); restrict processing in certain circumstances; erase your Personal Information in certain circumstances; and data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

13.2 United States

If you are a U.S. resident, you may have rights under applicable state privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), and the comprehensive privacy laws of states such as Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CDPA), Delaware (DOPPA), Iowa (ICDPA), Maryland (PIPA), Utah (UCPA), and Virginia (VCDPA). Subject to verification and legal limits, these may include the rights to: know and access the Personal Information we hold and its sources and purposes; obtain a portable copy; correct inaccurate information; delete Personal Information; opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of Personal Information; opt out of targeted advertising and certain profiling; limit the use of sensitive personal information; and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Where required, we honor recognized opt-out preference signals. California residents may also have rights under the “Shine the Light” law.

13.3 Other Countries and General Rights

If you reside elsewhere, we are committed to protecting your data in line with internationally recognized privacy principles, and you may have similar rights, including to access, correct, or delete your data; restrict or object to certain processing; withdraw consent; data portability where applicable; opt out of targeted advertising and data sales where required; file a grievance with a data-protection authority; and nominate an authorized representative where permitted.

13.4 GCC and Middle East

If you are located in the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, or another Gulf Cooperation Council or Middle East jurisdiction, you may have rights under local data-protection laws, such as the UAE Federal Personal Data Protection Law and the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL). Subject to those laws, these may include rights to be informed about processing, to access and obtain copies of your data, to correct or update it, to request deletion, to withdraw consent, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Cross-border transfers of your data from these jurisdictions (including to the United States) will be carried out on a lawful basis, such as your consent or appropriate safeguards, and you may contact us to learn more or to exercise your rights.

14. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We and our service providers use cookies, web beacons, software development kits (SDKs), device identifiers, and similar technologies to operate and secure the Services, remember your preferences, understand usage, and (where applicable and with consent) support advertising. Some technologies are strictly necessary for the Services to function; others are optional. Where required by law—such as in the EU, UK, and other regions with consent requirements—we will request your consent for non-essential cookies and similar technologies and provide a means to manage your preferences. You can also control cookies and identifiers through your browser and device settings, though disabling some may affect functionality. This Section should be read together with Section 20 (Analytics, Advertising, and Other Technologies).

15. Automated Decision-Making and Matching

Some features rely on automated processing. For example, HitchDrop and related features use algorithms to match users, surface listings, route or prioritize tasks, and may cancel or adjust tasks according to logic that can change as the Services develop, and we use automated tools to detect fraud, abuse, and policy violations. These processes are designed to operate the Services and protect users. Where automated processing produces a legal or similarly significant effect on you and the law (such as the GDPR) grants related rights, you may, to the extent applicable, request human review, express your view, or contest the decision by contacting us. Some automated processing—such as fraud prevention and security—may be necessary to provide the Services or to comply with law and may not be subject to opt-out.

16. How to Exercise Your Rights

You can exercise your rights by contacting us using the details in Section 25. We may ask you to verify your identity, and may require an authorized representative to provide proof of authority. Your request must include enough detail for us to understand and respond to it. We cannot respond unless we can verify your identity or authority and confirm the information relates to you. In some cases we may be unable to comply—such as where we cannot verify the request or where a full response conflicts with a legal obligation—and we will notify you if so.

17. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under the age limits set in our Terms, and certain features are restricted by age as described there. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not submit Personal Information. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us Personal Information, please contact us so we can delete it. Consistent with our Terms, we prohibit any content that exploits or endangers minors and will report and act on it as required by law. We encourage parents and guardians to monitor their children’s online activity.

18. Information Security

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect Personal Information in our control against unauthorized access, use, modification, and disclosure, and store information in a controlled, secure environment. However, no transmission over the Internet or wireless network can be guaranteed. You acknowledge that there are security and privacy limitations of the Internet beyond our control, that the security and privacy of information exchanged cannot be guaranteed, and that information may be intercepted in transit despite our efforts. Because security also depends on your device and credentials, please take appropriate steps to protect them.

19. Data Breach

If we become aware that the security of the Services has been compromised or that Personal Information has been disclosed to unrelated third parties through external activity such as a security attack or fraud, we may take reasonably appropriate measures, including investigation, reporting, and cooperation with law-enforcement authorities. Where there is a reasonable risk of harm or where required by law, we will make reasonable efforts to notify affected individuals, post a notice in the Application, and report the breach to the relevant authorities in accordance with applicable data-protection regulations.

20. Analytics, Advertising, and Other Technologies

15.1 Data Analytics

We may use third-party analytics tools that use cookies, web beacons, or similar technologies to collect standard usage information and compile statistical reports to monitor and improve the Services. We do not use these tools to collect personally identifiable information or associate statistical reports with any individual User.

15.2 Advertising

We may display advertising and share aggregated, non-identifying information that we or advertisers collect through your use of the Services. We do not share personally identifiable information about individual users with advertisers, and may use aggregated information to deliver tailored advertising. You can learn about your choices and opt out using your device’s platform controls or tools such as the Digital Advertising Alliance’s AppChoices app.

15.3 Social Media Features

The Services may include social media features that can collect your IP address and the page you visit, and may set a cookie to function. Your interactions with these features are governed by the privacy policy of their respective providers.

15.4 Push Notifications

We offer push notifications you may subscribe to. We rely on a device token issued by your device’s operating system to deliver them; device tokens do not reveal your identity or contact information. You can stop push notifications at any time by adjusting your device settings.

15.5 Affiliate Links

We may use affiliate links to offer related products and services. If you click an affiliate link, a cookie may be placed to track resulting sales for commission purposes.

15.6 Links to Other Resources

The Services contain links to resources we do not own or control. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those resources, and we encourage you to review their privacy statements.

21. Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

You have the right to opt out of having your Personal Information sold or shared (as those terms are defined under applicable law, and as described in Section 10) by contacting us or by using any “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” control we make available in the Application. Once we receive and verify your request, we will stop the relevant disclosure. Where required by applicable U.S. state privacy law, we also honor recognized browser- or device-based opt-out preference signals. Opting out may affect our ability to provide certain Services. We may decline opt-out requests where permitted by law, such as where disclosure is required to meet a legal or contractual obligation.

22. Managing Your Information

You may review, update, or delete certain Personal Information through your account settings. When you delete information, we may retain an unrevised copy as needed to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce our agreements. The categories of information you can delete may change as the Services change.

23. Changes to this Policy

We may modify, update, or expand this Policy at any time at our discretion, and changes will often arise as a natural part of the ongoing development and improvement of the Services. We do not undertake to individually notify you of changes and will not usually send a separate notification; instead, the current version of this Policy is always available within the Application and on the Website, and we may indicate that it has been revised by updating the “Effective Date.” It is your responsibility to review this Policy periodically. Changes are effective immediately upon posting unless otherwise stated, and your continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes your consent to the changes. We will not use your Personal Information in a manner materially different from what was stated when it was collected without your consent, where such consent is required by applicable law.

24. Acceptance of this Policy

You acknowledge that you have read this Policy and agree to all its terms. By accessing and using the Services and submitting your information, you agree to be bound by this Policy. If you do not agree, you are not authorized to access or use the Services.

25. Contacting Us

Data controller. The entity responsible for your Personal Information (the data controller) is HitchLine LLC, registered in the State of Delaware, United States. If we are required to designate a representative for users in the EU, UK, or another region, we will identify that representative through the contact channels below or within the Application.

If you have questions about the information we hold about you or wish to exercise your rights, you may submit a data subject request or contact us through:

https://www.hitchline.com/contact/

We will make reasonable efforts to resolve complaints and honor your rights as quickly as possible and within the timescales required by applicable data-protection laws. If you believe your concerns have not been adequately addressed, you may escalate the matter to the appropriate data-protection authority in your region.
